Due to the high financial burden of court proceedings, alternative methods of dispute resolution such as negotiation are more frequently being employed by parties seeking to settle matters outside court.

The competition simulates a meeting between two pairs of lawyers. Teams are given 30 minutes to reach an agreement that best represents and advocates for the needs of their client. There is a common set of facts known to all participants, as well as confidential information given exclusively to each team. Teams are given a 10 minute period following the negotiation to evaluate their own performance. This competition focuses on clear communication skills, the ability to create a negotiated agreement that best suits your clients needs and effective dispute resolution.
