In association with the Australian Red Cross, the La Trobe University Law Students' Association invites you to participate in the International Humanitarian Law Moot.
The purpose of this moot is to raise awareness of International Humanitarian Law issues within the Australian community. It is envisaged that the Moot will assist students in understanding and appreciating the growing importance of International Humanitarian Law, its nature as a system of protection during times of armed conflict and its role as fundamental part of International Law. The moot will be based upon an International Law problem, with the competition emulating an International Tribunal. As such competitors should note that there will be different practices and processes from a normal moot, which usually emulate the standard Australian court room.
Each team is made up of two competitors, a Senior and Junior Counsel.
Each round will have 4 competitors in total, constituting two teams of team competitors. This moot will require further in depth statutory interpretation in comparison to other moots that are run throughout the year.
